The couple have been at the centre of widespread pregnancy claims lately, fuelled further by recent pictures of Cheryl looking just swell at a carol concert in London.
However, taking to Twitter, Ruth has broken her silence and insisted that the couple are allowed to keep anything they feel is private as exactly that.
She tweeted: "Bump or no bump, announced or not, it's completely up to my brother and Cheryl what parts of their private lives they choose to share and when."
Ruth, who invited Cheryl to her wedding earlier this year, also posted a link to an opinion piece titled: "Why we have to stop discussing whether or not Cheryl is pregnant."
Writing alongside the link, she added: "This article sums up exactly what I'm feeling."
On Tuesday evening (29 November), Cheryl and Liam ventured out to a carol concert held in aid of Cheryl's Trust, a charity set up by the Girls Aloud star to help troubled youngsters living in the north east of England.
The event took place at the Fayre of St James in London and the pair were literally SURROUNDED by photographers as they made their exit from the festive event.
Proceeds of this year's event will go to Cheryl's Trust.
