ITV took it upon themselves to apologise to any viewers left distressed by seeing Ant without Dec and Dec without Ant, assuring fans it will "never" happen again.

They tweeted: "OFFICIAL STATEMENT: Last night we made a mistake. We apologise to the nation. We promise we will NEVER split @antanddec again #ImACeleb."

Phew!

Viewers of I'm A Celebrity saw the duo split in two on Wednesday night's episode of the show to reveal the results of the latest bushtucker trial vote.

Yup, Ant and Dec both went solo... all for a minute. But a long minute that was.

You see, the camp had been divided into two as part of Claim of Thrones. Four celebrities, Wayne Bridge, Adam Thomas, Sam Quek and Martin Roberts, won the chance to live like royalty for the night in Snake Rock and the possibility of becoming immune from the first public vote.

They had to endure being in a box full of critters for five minutes, before unscrewing ten nuts to release a ball and send it down a shoot. Those who managed it the quickest became royals.

The remaining campmates became their subjects and were forced to serve the royals.

Campmates went head-to-head in the Vicious Circle trial.

However, two subjects have now been given the chance to challenge two of the royals and steal their place in Snake Rock - bagging themselves immunity instead.

To do so, they'll have to take part in the Bushman's Brewery, a drinking trial. Ant headed into Snake Rock to reveal that Martin and Adam have been chosen to defend their royal status, while Dec made his way into main camp to tell the subjects the news.

Twitter were quick to react to Ant and Dec going their separate ways on the show and many viewers were NOT happy.

One user commented: "WW3 nearly happened when Ant & Dec were without each other.. #ImACeleb," while another said: "Ant & Dec on their own was not right, it was like watching a unicycle roll into the camps #ImACeleb."

Here's how fans reacted...
