X Factor's Ryan Lawrie has said he's confident girlfriend Emily Middlemas has what it takes to win the show, and even if she doesn't scoop the recording contract prize, she's already number one in his eyes.

Scottish singer-songwriter Ryan, 20, was eliminated from X Factor on Sunday night after losing out to Honey G, 35, in the latest sing off.

His girlfriend Emily, 18, is still on the show.

Speaking on ITV's Lorraine on Monday, Ryan said he'd now be in the audience each week cheering Emily on, adding: "She can go on and win it now because she's talented and so different."

He added on Xtra Factor: "I think she's already won it no matter what, but yes, I think she'll win it."

Ryan added that Emily was upset to see him eliminated, but he's confident she'll bounce back for next week's live shows.

"We've been going out for nearly a year now but I've known her for about four years," Ryan said. "Before X Factor we were gigging and doing the circuits around Glasgow."

Ryan said he reckons the couple will "definitely write together and maybe put a wee song out", adding: "I feel like songwriting is my first love, that's the thing I want to do every day when I wake up. And if I get the chance to perform I'd love to do that as well."

Well, they're both on The X Factor Live Tour 2017 together so who knows?! Maybe they'll take to the stage for a duet!

Ryan also told Xtra Factor there are several songs in the pipeline right now: "I'm a songwriter and I have a lot of songs waiting to be put out there. I can't wait to see people's reactions!"

The singer ended up in the bottom two against Honey G following their Movie Week performances. Unfortunately for Ryan, all the judges bar his own mentor Nicole Scherzinger chose to save Honey G.

Defending that decision, judge Louis Walsh said: "It's all about the entertainment factor! Honey G entertains and you never know what she'll do, it's always different. She has the X Factor. She's different. And I think she's a really nice person because I got to know her. She's rehearsing all the time in the corridor, she takes it so seriously. She's having the time of her life and I wasn't sending her home."

X Factor continues Saturday at 8pm on ITV.
