The reality star told Australia's Kyle & Jackie O Show that his brief meeting with Charlotte had been "hyped up" more than it needed to be and nothing really happened.
"Obviously I knew she was going, she knew I was going, and we were going with similar people. We kind of walked in, looked at each other, gave a little nod, and that was kind of it," he said.
Gaz said there was no fighting or drama or awkwardness, insisting: "We just walked in, kind of like, 'hi, hi' and that was it."
"I think everyone else has been hyping it up more than it needed to be," added Gaz, 28. "Me and Charlotte have been through a lot. Everyone is like, they're in the same place, they'll be arguing, shouting, but it all went fine."
A source had previously told The Sun: "It all looked a bit frosty when they met but it was inevitable they'd see each other... They gave each other a hug and stood talking for a couple of minutes before they went off in different directions."
Gaz and Charlotte split earlier this year after an on-off relationship that spanned five years. It wasn't the most amicable of splits at first, with Gary's appearance on Ex On The Beach proving a sore point for Charlotte.
It emerged she'd suffered an ectopic pregnancy while was Gaz was filming in Thailand and while recovering, she learned he'd slept with Jem Lucy.
Gaz countered that he slept with Jem before news of Charlotte's hospitalisation, and had offered to drop everything and fly home to see her, but Charlotte didn't want that. He also said he and Char hadn't been exclusive and he was upset she'd gone public with the pregnancy when they'd agreed to keep it private.
Charlotte then accused Gaz of failing to admit he had been wrong. She ended up quitting Geordie Shore, saying she was willing to sacrifice the show in order to get away from Gaz.
Both have since moved on: Gaz is dating model Emma McVey, while Charlotte has been dating ex-Big Brother housemate Ash Harrison.
