The retired footballer is dad to son Jaydon, nine, from his former relationship with model Vanessa Perroncel, and sons Parker, three, and Carter, one, with The Saturdays singer wife Frankie.
Speaking ahead of I'm A Celebrity starting, Wayne said: "This is the longest I have been away from my kids, and since I have stopped playing football, I have been doing daddy day care – especially if Frankie is busy."
"It's going to be difficult being away from them but I will try and make them proud."
He added that missing Jaydon's tenth birthday would be difficult but he hopes Jaydon will think he's "cool" for taking on the jungle challenge.
Wayne, 36, said he's hoping to make a good impression on the British public, particularly as he feels no one really knows who he is, other than being a former professional footballer.
"I am bricking myself. I am so nervous and scared of everything," he said. "This whole thing is so different for me. I have never really put myself out there publicly before."
"[If I won] it would mean you are liked by the British public. This is the hardest and scariest thing I have ever done, as well as being emotionally tough. But knowing how I have felt these last few days, waking up knowing I am going, I also know it's going to be exciting."
I'm A Celebrity starts Sunday, 13 November at 9pm on ITV.
Here's the full lineup, all ready to go in their jungle attire.
