Speaking to the TOWIE website, Amber said: "I think it's probably best to just not talk as everything is really raw at the minute."

Chris added: "I don't think it's open ended now, I did try and try to say we can be friends and in the same room, but for my sake, it doesn't help me at all. I feel it needs to be cut now."

The couple recently split after Amber accused Chris of not being supportive enough while her family went through a difficult time. He then tried to get her back, but Amber said she needed space.

On the most recent episode, Chris said he was confused as Amber wanted space but then phoned him and said she still had feelings for him and thought he was amazing. Amber, however, said he shouldn't take that as her wanting to get back with him. It all ended in a row, with Chris walking off.

Amber told the official website afterwards: "I've never once said my feelings have gone for him, but with the situation I'm in, I can't be in a relationship, my head isn't in it. I've done that because I don't want to hurt him in the long run. It seems like it's getting really bitter which is obviously not what I wanted. I guess we both wanted different things so that's the only way it can go."

She added that her phone call to Chris was nothing to do with them as a couple, she only phoned him after his mum said in a recent episode she'd been insensitive to Chris by tweeting about a summer body.

Amber was also upset by his brother Jon tweeting it was time for Chris to "move the f**k on."

They met on Sunday's episode of TOWIE.

Amber explained Chris had told her he was thinking of what she used to tell him at the start of her relationship, and she had agreed, saying she meant everything she'd said back them.

She said: "I think he's taken that as me giving him false hope."

"I feel like if we have any more conversations we'll go round in circles," she said. "He has one view, I have another, we're not going to agree on any conversation we have, so I think it's probably best to just not talk as everything is really raw at the minute. I don't want to hurt him or be nasty, but I feel it will get to a point where I feel like he isn't understanding anything I'm saying so I think it's best to draw a line under it now.

Chris, meanwhile, argued he'd only brought those things up because Amber had phoned him upset. "She knows how I feel, that's what fucking with my head."

He continued: "The conversation didn't go well but I think it was a long time coming because I kept trying to tell her my feelings and she pushed me back, I think now it's got to a point where I need to say enough is enough.

"I don't think it's open ended now, I did try and try to say we can be friends and in the same room, but for my sake, it doesn't help me at all. I feel it needs to be cut now, I told her how I feel, she needs space and to do her own thing and I need to block it all out."

TOWIE continues Wednesday at 10pm on ITVBe.
