Fans have been questioning whether Cheryl, 33, is expecting a baby with her boyfriend Liam Payne, 23, but so far, she has been keeping mum on the matter.
There was no mention of the rumours during Cheryl's first live TV appearance since the rumours first started, and now Phil wants to know why the former X Factor judge wasn't quizzed over whether they are true or not.
While speaking about Cheryl on ITV's This Morning, Phil said: "The surprising thing was that she wasn't asked. We know from our job here that when somebody comes in - I'm not saying that is the case [with Cheryl] - they can say, 'Under no circumstances are you to ask me about whatever.'
"Normally we don't: sometimes we're naughty, but normally we don't. It appears, although I don't know, that she may have said, 'Don't talk to me about it.'"
Holly Willoughby, however, did point out that Cheryl may not even be pregnant.
Speculation started from fans putting two and two together, after Cheryl was pictured without her stomach on show and One Direction star Liam updated his Twitter bio to read: "The luckiest man in the world."
Of course, that could be related to pretty much anything and Cheryl made sure to keep us all guessing while on TV. She had appeared on The One Show to talk about her work with Childline and raise awareness of the service which helps children and young adults.
Introducing her to the viewers, host Matt Baker referred to Cheryl as "just Cheryl", following her divorce from ex-husband Jean Bernard Fernandez-Versini. He said: "It feels like a fresh start, are you enjoying life at the moment? How are you? You good?"
Cheryl coyly replied: "I'm great, really well. Yourself?"
Speaking about her campaign with Childline, Cheryl said on the show: "I just want to help young people - the next generation, to have hope and opportunity. Life is not perfect, it's not the Instagram pictures. You are going to have hardship and hard times."
She never addressed the rumours and is yet to confirm or deny if she is expecting. Cheryl is known for being notoriously private about her personal life.
However, her BFF Kimberley Walsh has spoken out about Cheryl amid the rumours and cryptically told Daily Star's TV Life magazine: "I'm really happy that she's happy. I don't really want to go in to too much detail on that because I feel it's something that she should speak about, but to know she's happy makes me happy."
Cheryl and Liam first starting dating at the end of last year, and made their first red carpet debut as a couple in Paris in May.
