X Factor's Emily Middlemas embraced the Halloween spirit on Thursday night by dressing as a dead cheerleader for a party in London.

The contestants are usually not allowed to go anywhere other than the plush mansion or rehearsal studios, but producers made an exception this week and sent the finalists off to the Kiss Haunted House Party.

Emily posed for pictures on the red carpet wearing an American cheerleader-style outfit smeared with fake blood. A very different look to the sweet Emily we're used to seeing on X Factor!

How creepy are those red contacts?!

The 18-year-old's boyfriend and X Factor co-star Ryan Lawrie, 20, was also in attendance, and the pair seemed to have co-ordinated their outfits as he turned up looking like a dead jock.

Ryan teamed his Letterman jacket with faux blood, deathly white make-up and matching creepy red contact lenses for a very chilling zombie-esque appearance.

Other X Factor stars at the party included Saara Aalto, Sam Lavery, Gifty Louise and last year's winner Louisa Johnson, as well as former Xtra Factor co-host, Kiss FM DJ Melvin Odoom.

This week's Halloween theme on X Factor is Fright Night, which caused a bit of a stir when the jukebox selected the theme last weekend.

As you'd expect, there were cries of 'fix, fix!' on social media, but several people associated with the show have come out to deny that's the case.

Judge Nicole Scherzinger and spinoff show host Rylan Clark-Neal both insisted it had been a random choice, while creative director Brian Friedman branded it a "spooky coincidence."

So far, only two contestants' Fright Night songs have been revealed: Honey G is doing the Men In Black theme song, while Saara Aaalto is tackling Lady Gaga's 'Bad Romance'.

X Factor continues Saturday at 8pm on ITV.
