Laura Whitmore has returned to Strictly Come Dancing after injuring her ankle during training.

TV presenter Laura was forced to miss last week's live show after her right ankle became badly inflamed. Doctors warned she should take a week off over fears she could permanently damage the joint, so she followed their advice.

Laura has now made a comeback to the dance floor, but she has assured fans she is taking it easy.

On Wednesday, the 31-year-old former I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here Now! host tweeted: "Back to training... I'm quite a bit behind and being careful. But will try my best, guys!"

Laura is partnered with Giovanni Pernice in this year's series of the BBC One dancing competition. Her injury began after she felt a "niggle" in her ankle during a rehearsal session.

Writing in her blog for Glamour Online, Laura admitted she ignored it for a further two days before the pain became unbearable.

"I thought I should just work through any pain and it would get better," she said. [On day three] I got home and I couldn't walk up the steps to my front door. My whole right ankle was three times the size of my left. I freaked out!"

Prior to injuring her ankle, Laura and Giovanni had received their highest score yet for their impressive Quickstep.

Meanwhile, this weekend's show will be Halloween-themed and Strictly bosses have revealed the songs the contestants will be dancing to!
