Sam, 17, is in Simon Cowell's Girls' category and this week she wowed the judges and audience at home with her rendition of Michael Jackson's 'Earth Song'.
However, following her performance, she found herself being romantically linked to fellow contestant Nathan Lewis - who is in the group 5 After Midnight - in a report in The Sun On Sunday.
Sam's mother Tracey has, however, hit back at the claims and insisted the pair are just good friends.
Speaking to her local newspaper, Tracey told Chronicle Live: "There's nothing going on. Every year contestants get linked with each other but Sam and Nathan are just good mates.
"Sam is getting on well with everyone in the X Factor house, that's just the kind of person she is. Sam has got so much focus and she definitely won't let anything distract her."
Having made it through the third week of live shows, Samantha will now take on The X Factor's latest theme - Fright Night - this Saturday.
Although we are yet to learn exactly what she will be singing, Sam tweeted: "LOVE MY SONG!" She has since added: "Coffee and learning my song inside out and round and round! Saturday will be here before you know it #FRIGHTNIGHT."
The X Factor continues Saturday and Sunday on ITV1.
