In the new issue of Reveal magazine, we catch up with Arg to find out how he's been doing since that bombshell earlier this month that he hooked up with Lydia in Marbs.
"When she said that to me [that it was a drunken mistake], I did think, 'Hang on a minute?!'" he tells us.
But he's quick to add he'll always love and respect Lydia no matter what she says.
"Break ups are never easy and obviously I do think really highly of Lydia, but I just have to deal with it and be strong."
As for whether they'll ever give their on-off romance another go, he tells us: "Who knows? We've been through a lot so there's always going to be feelings there. Never say never."
Pick up your new Reveal magazine, out now, for more from Arg and the TOWIE cast.
Arg, 28, and Lydia, 26, were together on and off for seven years before splitting earlier this year. But while filming in Marbs over the summer, they hooked up after a night out.
Lydia told him the next morning: "To me, it was a drunken mistake. I can't put it any more black and white. The whole thing was a mistake and I feel I've given you false hope and that upsets me."
The incident between Arg and Lydia actually led to a major fall out between Lydia, Lydia's mum Debbie Douglas and co-star Danielle Armstrong, after Lydia and Debbie objected to Danielle talking about it during a TV appearance.
Danielle referenced Lydia and Arg's night together on Celebrity Juice, prompting Lydia to say: "Danielle made it so public before I'd even had a chance to explain myself and she spread the word to the world before I'd even had a chance to digest what happened."
Debbie, who sent Danielle a text saying she was disappointed, added: "It was very distasteful. It's about moral values and principles and for me that's just wrong."
They later cleared the air.
TOWIE continues Wednesday at 10pm on ITVBe.
