TOWIE: Pete Wicks plucked up the courage to finally face Megan McKenna's parents and after meeting with them, he admits things went a little better than he had expected.

Pete is currently in their bad books, after being caught out texting a slew of other girls behind Megan's back. In the texts, he had hit out at Megan, leaving her heartbroken and unsure whether she will ever be able to trust him again.

Pete, however, has vowed to win her back and proving so, he apologised to both Megan's mum, Tanya, and her dad, Dave.

Megan's dad Dave told Pete he was "still angry" with him and pulled out that go-to parent line, telling the reality star he had "let himself down." He added that Pete will only rectify things when he makes Megan smile again.

"When Megan starts smiling again, you'll make me smile," he said.

Everyone had expected Dave's chat with Pete to be much more brutal than the chat Pete had with Megan's mum, but Tanya didn't hold back when it came to her daughter's beau.

Telling Pete exactly what she thinks, Tanya put it bluntly: "In all honesty, if it was me, I wouldn't have you back. Jog on mate. Do you actually really know what love is Pete? Honestly? Because if you did know what love was, you wouldn't be doing that to her. We don't want someone like you being with our daughter.

"She gave her heart to you and you just f**king trampled all over it."

Pete, meanwhile, isn't holding that against Tanya and has admitted everything she said to him was justified.

In a new video shared to the official TOWIE website, Pete said: "Tanya is so protective over Megan, they've got every right to have a pop at me. Everything they had to say was fair. They probably could have said a lot worse, to be honest. They're going to stand by Megan... whatever Megan decides they'll back her because that's how good of a family they are."

He continued: "It's not easy to hear, it's not just Megan that I've lost. I've lost their respect as well and I deserve that. Like I said to them and I said to Megan, I'm going to do everything I can to put it right. I did get on really well with her family and I hope that they all give me another chance to prove I do love Megan. I don't think I've salvaged anything yet. I've got an awful lot to do to make it up to Megan and everyone.

"Everyone has said to me, 'It's down to you make it right.' Obviously, I'm devastated I'm not with Megan. I've lost her. But me being devastated and harping on about that ain't going to get her back. It's down to me to do whatever I can to put it right."

The last time Pete spoke to Megan, she had slammed her boyfriend and hit out at him for betraying her trust. Megan said: "You know I've been through this before and I didn't have trust in boys and you've pulled the wool over my eyes. You're greedy, f**king disgusting and you've embarrassed me and I feel like I can't go out."

Fans are yet to see the couple face each other again, but new pictures released from TOWIE filming suggest that Pete and Megan could be getting back on track...

TOWIE continues Sunday 23 October at 10pm on ITVBe.
