Former Pop Idol winner Will unexpectedly quit this year's Strictly after just two weeks in the competition, and it has been claimed he made the request hours before his shock exit.
A source told The Mirror that Karen agreed to make a 12-hour round trip to Cornwall, because Will wanted to rehearse away from the bright lights of London.
"He described London as having a 'negative energy' and he had some household things he needed to be nearby for, so it made sense for them to relocate." the insider said. "But after Karen spent six hours sitting on a train, Will failed to show up."
Will is said to have announced his decision to quit Strictly for "personal reasons" the following day.
Reveal has contacted Will's rep for comment.
Will paid tribute to Karen after he left Strictly, thanking her for her guidance and support on the show, while she publicly thanked him via Twitter and said she would miss him.
Meanwhile, Strictly pro Brendan Cole played down speculation that Will and Karen had any sort of fall out, telling Digital Spy: "Karen's such a phenomenal teacher and she's extremely easy-going and I think they got along fantastically. Certainly on set they were hanging out all the time, they were laughing and joking."
Will and Karen had ranked fourth on the Strictly Come Dancing leader board following what ended up as their final performance together on the BBC One show.
The exact reason he decided to bow out is still unclear but, announcing his exit, Will said: "Unfortunately, I am leaving the show for personal reasons. I leave with joy in my heart that I have been able to take part in one of the most loved shows on British television."
He added: "To be a part of Strictly has been a long time ambition of mine. As a performer, a viewer, and a fan of the show, to dance as a contestant was an experience I always hoped for. I have made some great friends, and am in awe of their performances week in, week out. I have found a creative partnership with Karen that has been the most wonderful thing to experience. I will be eternally grateful to her for her direction, talent and guiding me through three wonderful dances that I will be able to show my grandkids in years to come."
Strictly Come Dancing bosses later announced that Will would not be replaced in this year's competition.
Following his announcement, Strictly judge Darcey Bussell described his departure as "horrifying".
In an interview with Dailymail.com, she said: "It's sad. Unfortunately, being a judge, we are not allowed to see the rehearsals or what happened during the week so you don't know the ins and outs and you only arrive on the day of the live show. It's horrifying to think that somebody who could have easily got to the final [has left]."
Strictly Come Dancing continues this Saturday.
