Geordie Shore: Gaz Beadle has claimed he "couldn't have done any more" to get with Charlotte Crosby.

Fans of the MTV reality show will know that, this time round, Charlotte doesn't join her co-stars for the new series. She announced her decision to quit Geordie Shore at the start of June, after falling out with Gaz over their on/off relationship.

At the time of filming, the pair were no longer speaking and addressing Charlotte's absence in the first episode of Geordie Shore's thirteenth series, Gaz admits all the drama that went on between them has left things "still a bit raw" for him.

Ahead of Geordie Shore returning to our screens, MTV has treated fans to a first look at the first episode of its new series. And, not surprisingly, Charlotte not being with the gang as they head out to Magaluf is a hot topic.

Opening up about the breakdown of their relationship, earlier this year, Gaz tells Aaron Chalmers: "I couldn't have done any more to get with that girl. I 100 percent wanted to get with that girl. If it was going to work, it would have been then."

Speaking to the boys, Gary adds: "That happened, it's done. I'm gutted Charlotte's not here. At the end of the day, I tried, it didn't work. Time to move on."

Although he does privately tell the camera: "I am single, but all the Charlotte drama is still a bit raw to me, but I can't tell this lot that after all the banter I've given them for not pulling."

Charlotte and Gary had got together on Big Birthday Battle.

Charlotte and Gary had picked up their on/off romance during Geordie Shore's Big Birthday Battle series in January, but things hit a rocky patch when Charlotte drunkenly kissed Marty McKenna. Despite being upset over their kiss, Gary didn't rule things out entirely with Charlotte and they went on to work on their relationship following filming.

In the months that followed, Charlotte and Gaz appeared to date and tried to work out whether they had a future together. They never put a label on their romance, though, and it broke down while Gaz had been filming for Ex On The Beach's fifth series.

Gary isn't the only one to note Charlotte not being there and Holly admits she is "gutted" that she doesn't have her bestie filming with her for the first time. She says: "Charlotte's not coming to Magaluf and I'm gutted, but that means I'm going to have to make a special effort to just have fun without her."

Before she jets off, Holly sends Charlotte a text that reads: "So gutted you're not coming, gunna miss you so much! Will have a shot for you! Love you all the world."

Charlotte had been an original on Geordie Shore and starred on the show for twelve series, before deciding to hang up her boots. At the time of her exit, Charlotte told fans leaving had been one of the "toughest decisions" she has had to make, but she wanted to distance herself from Gaz.

Her co-stars, meanwhile, headed overseas for filming and viewers will get to see the gang travel around different party resorts in Europe, including Ibiza, Magaluf and Ayia Napa.

And it sounds like it's going to be all dramatic this time round too, as Aaron has teased there is a huge shock in store that "tears the family apart."

He's definitely got us all intrigued...
