Rapper Honey G – real name Anna Georgette Gilford – has been the most talked about act this series with some critics deeming her a "novelty act" and others wondering if she's pulling a big prank on the show.
Her mentor Sharon, however, was on ITV's Good Morning Britain on Monday defending the North London rapper and pointing out she's become globally famous since the show started.
"She's a lovely lady and she loves what she's doing and is having the time of her life," said Sharon. "She absolutely is. Her talent is that she's brave, she's living the dream – absolutely living the dream – and she makes people happy."
Piers Morgan, however, pointed out Honey G did NOT make him happy…
But Sharon wasn't having that and replied: "She's great!"
Sharon also pointed out: "She keeps getting through, she's all over the internet, people all over the world know about Honey G now. That says something, right? She's never been in the bottom two and people love her: kids love her, adults love her, she's just one of those people you look at and go, 'What was that? She made me smile!' She makes you feel good."
Honey G sailed through to the third week of live shows over the weekend following her performance of 'Mo Money, Mo Problems' during Motown Week. Once again, head judge Simon Cowell was full of praise!
Simon told her: "What can I say? Honey, you shut it down! Do you know what else you've done? You've really turned it around. You are now my guilty pleasure, I cannot wait to see you [each week] and the dancing was brilliant."
"You and Sharon are two peas in a pod. You get her, she gets you – fantastic."
