X Factor's Emily Middlemas and Ryan Lawrie snuggled up for a funny snap while enjoying a lunch date together yesterday (13 October).

The couple, who are both current contestants on the singing competition, took time out of rehearsals for some quality time together by grabbing some food at Nando's.

In the selfie, Ryan can be seen holding one of the restaurant's famous cockerel number sticks in front of his face as he stares into the camera. Meanwhile, Emily puckered up her pout into fish lips while crossing her eyes for the playful photo.

Along with the picture, Ryan, 20, simply wrote: "Out for lunch."

Ryan and Emily,18, caused a stir on this year's series when it emerged that they were actually dating.

Many speculated that the pair had met on the talent programme, but Ryan shut down the rumours, tweeting: "All these papers etc saying me and Emily met at the auditions...Naaaaah you wrong, we've been together for almost a year."

The duo actually met through gigs a whopping four years ago and had their first date at T.G.I Friday's.

After auditioning, as solo singers, this year on The X Factor, both Ryan and Emily made it to Judges' Houses, finding themselves suddenly living together in the X Factor mansion AND competing against each other every week on the live shows.

Obviously Emily - who has Simon Cowell as her mentor - and Ryan - who is in Nicole Scherzinger's group - could find themselves in the bottom two one week and would have to go against each other in the sing off. But they aren't too phased about the situation.

Emily explained: "It's not the end of the world. We still have lots of years left in our lives. We're young! It's a competition. It's just setting a platform for us. It's the start. After this competition, when we go into the music industry, that will be tougher than just a sing off."

"Whatever happens, happens," she added. "It would be nice for either of us to go far in the competition."

Ryan added: "We have discussed it but we're really supportive of each other and whatever happens, happens. Whoever goes or stays, we support each other."
