Brie confirmed the couple's exciting news in an interview with E! News, gushing that it has always been her "dream" to start a family.
She told the publication: "It has always been a dream of mine to become a mother. Now that it is finally real, it fills me up with so much happiness. I can't wait to see my husband, Bryan, be a father to our child. I am so excited for this new chapter in our lives"
WWE star Bryan (also known as Daniel Bryan) added: "Every time I look at Brie's stomach, I'm amazed that there is a little life in there."
Brie also shared her exciting news with fans on Instagram, posting a photo of a baby grow hanging up next to a sign that read: "Our family is growing." She added the caption: "@bryanldanielson and I couldn't be happier to see our family grow!! Thank you all for your kind words and support!!! Love you all! Let the journey begin."
Brie and Daniel were inundated with congratulations from fans and over 140,000 liked her post.
Brie's baby news comes after she made the decision to take a break from WWE. She announced her exit in April last year, following her win at WrestleMania 32 and explained starting a family was the main reason for hanging up her boots.
We had caught up with Brie and her Total Divas co-stars six months prior, and even then, Brie exclusively told Reveal she is "so ready for motherhood." At the time, she had been battling with the decision to start trying for a baby, as she knew it would mean giving up her wrestling career.
"The hardest thing in our business is that, unfortunately, you can't wrestle and be pregnant," Brie said. "It's this ongoing tug of war inside if I'm ready to hang up my boots and start trying. Bryan and I have this crazy baby fever. We are so ready for it in our lives - especially considering how we are with our dog Josie - we're so ready for a kid."
Brie also revealed what she thinks she will be like as a mother, adding: "I think I will definitely be laid back and I think I'll be one of those that whatever my kids want to do, I'll never hold them back... I think I'll be a good mum."
While Brie and Bryan may no longer be competing in WWE (Bryan announced his retirement in February, following surgery on his neck), fans will still get to see them onscreen as Brie and her twin sister Nikki Bella will feature in their own reality show Total Bellas.
Their own spinoff will feature the girls, their partners (Nikki is dating John Cena) and their extended Bella family, and will follow Nikki's return to wrestling following a serious injury, as well as Brie's hopes to start a family.
Total Bellas airs on E! on Sunday 9 October at 6pm.
