The couple's romance has made headlines over the past week after they both made it through to Judges' Houses.
It led to speculation that romance had blossomed when they met on the ITV show, with a source telling The Sun: "The pair individually are up there as the favourites to go on and win the show. They didn't go on the show looking for love but it seems to have blossomed."
But Ryan has now confirmed that definitely wasn't the case, tweeting: "All these papers etc saying me and Emily met at the auditions...Naaaaah you wrong, we've been together for almost a year."
Which is clear when you scroll way back through their social media accounts!
Ryan, 20, and Emily, 18, are both through to Judges' Houses, which air on ITV this weekend. We'll find out then whether they make it through to live shows or not.
Ryan was the wildcard pick for Nicole Scherzinger's boys' category after a bit of a rollercoaster time on X Factor. He auditioned as a solo artist, was booted, then brought back to form a new group, which was then booted at Six Chair Challenge, only for him to be brought back solo again.
It was Simon Cowell who chose Ryan as Nicole's wildcard, as each judge had to pick for another judge.
Ryan said: "It was totally unexpected and I was absolutely buzzing to get a call from Simon. I'm really excited for it and with all the feelings and emotions running through me it just doesn't feel real at all. I want to show Nicole why Simon brought me back."
Emily, meanwhile, sailed through to Simon's own Judges' Houses where she'll compete for a chance to reach the live shows as part of the girls' category.
X Factor continues Saturday on ITV.
