Simon Cowell has set his sights on The Great British Bake Off... or more like his own version of it.

Having his say on the latest Bake Off drama, Simon has come up with an idea that could see the BBC rival the show.

We never had him down as the baking type, but Simon has revealed he has been thinking about creating a brand new show and has been inspired by the tent of dreams and Mary Berry.

Everyone will know that Bake Off is now moving channels and instead of its home being on BBC, it will jump ship to Channel 4. That move has already seen the likes of show hosts Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins quit Bake Off, and speculation is rife that Mary and Paul Hollywood could follow suit.

Now, Simon has proposed an idea that could see the BBC rival its very own show.

Speaking to The Sun, he said: "I am open for business and I have got an idea for a new bread show, which involves cakes and innuendos and the BBC can have the contract for life."

Sounds a *bit* like The Great British Bake Off 2.0, doesn't it?

We wonder if his plan involves getting Mel and Sue on board and poaching Mary and Paul too?!

Simon added that he feels sorry for the BBC not being able to keep the show on their channel, but speaking of their decision to sell Bake Off to Channel 4, he said: "Personally, I think it is a mistake. I just do."

So naturally, he's conjured up a plan to save the day... We'd be lying if we said we weren't intrigued!

Simon's take on Bake Off's channel move comes after Jamie Oliver recently ruled out speculation he could become a new judge on the show.

Mary and Paul are still yet to confirm whether they will be sticking with Bake Off, and confirming he won't be taking over if they don't, Jamie said: "I haven't got the time to do it, so I couldn't do it if I wanted to."

He's not the only one lined up to replace Mary and Paul - last year's winner Nadiya Hussain is also rumoured for a judging position. A source told Daily Star: "She is hugely popular, gets great ratings, is a natural in front of the camera and knows the format and pressures of being a contestant better than anyone."

Who knows what will happen!
