Made in Chelsea fans were promised series 13 would reveal everything about Binky Felstead's pregnancy – and episode one did not disappoint. Within minutes, our favourite posh reality star was on screen announcing that she and on-off boyfriend Josh 'JP' Patterson were expecting their first child together – but the reaction from her nearest and dearest wasn't exactly supportive.

Stephanie Pratt, Louise Thompson and Rosie Fortescue were among the first of the cast to be told the big news. Awkwardly, they found the claim so difficult to digest they were convinced Binks was joking. Once the penny finally dropped, the first words to escape Stephanie's mouth were: "Erm, it is JP's, right?" What a lovely way to congratulate your BFF.

Then it was over to JP to make the announcement to Made in Chelsea's men. And if you thought the girls were a little off, the boys seemed even more uncomfortable with the idea. Jamie Laing in particular didn't look too pleased for the father-to-be. After hearing the news, his response was to put his head into his hands before asking, "Mate, are you okay?"

Following the overwhelmingly cold reaction, JP then made a cringeworthy attempt to prove he's more than ready for fatherhood. Even though he refused (at the time of filming) to refer to Binky as his girlfriend, he told the boys he was all set to start a family with her.

"I was terrified but I'm at a point now where I'm, like, fine," he insisted – and now we're of course totally 100 per cent convinced.

If Binks was wondering what her co-stars really think of her pregnancy, the answers came pouring out when a bunch of the cast headed out for dinner – which she, for some reason, wasn't invited to. Across the table, the entire group hinted they had concerns about the birth.

"I was so shocked when she showed me the scans," Louise said, something she, of course, failed to mention to Binky's face earlier that day. "I mean, six months ago she was partying in south of France. There's no way she was prepared to have a child. The baby is going to come out having black, dark hair and look like them!" Erm, is that a compliment or a dig?

While JP and Binky aren't currently in a relationship on the show, which was filmed some months back, the on-off couple are definitely back together now and looking forward to becoming parents. Although some of the cast don't appear to be overjoyed for them, one person who was supportive despite his issues with their relationship was Ollie Locke.

Last series, he fell out spectacularly with JP and begged Binky to cut ties with him. But now the situation has changed completely and the Chelsea favourite has put his feelings to one side to support his friend.

"I think you are both going to be make fabulous parents," he told the couple. The exchange left Binky delighted: "My two favourite boys are back together again at last." Let's see how long the cease-fire lasts.

In other MiC news, the show welcomed three new additions to the cast – although none of them have been made to feel particularly welcome by the others.

Ex-professional rugby player James Sandford ruffled a few feathers when he tried to work his charms on Louise and failed miserably, which, of course, destroyed any hopes he may have had of becoming friends with her notoriously jealous boyfriend Ryan Libbey. He flirted with her in right front of him, after all – it looks like James may not be the sharpest tool in the box. This situation could escalate very quickly.

New arrival Ella Willis also found herself at the centre of some serious drama. Although she should probably be the one carrying anger, it looks as though Tiffany Watson is doing all the heavy lifting for her. Last year, Tiffany cheated on boyfriend Sam Thompson with Ella's then boyfriend. When Ella decided to tell everyone what happened, Tiffany accused her of being a bunny boiler – which is an interesting conclusion to draw.

Now it looks as though the tables may be turning. We're not sure if anybody else noticed apart from us (and Tiffany), but it looked like there were all kinds of sparks flying between Ella and Sam. Perhaps rather telling of what direction this situation is heading in, Sam later did not take Tiffany's side in her Ella fall-out. What with their relationship under so much strain as it is, is this the beginning of the end?

The last newbie, Daisy Robins, got off on the wrong foot with Olivia Bentley, where there is certainly no love lost at all. In fact, the last time they spoke, Daisy apparently told Olivia she hopes she dies! What a lovely girl.

So all the new pawns are in place, a fresh bunch of drama seeds have been sown and next week the cast are set to jet off to Mauritius to pour some sun on the situation. But will the newbies be getting an invite considering their almost universally awful first impressions? Well, stranger things have happened on this show. We found out tonight that Mark-Francis Vandelli is apparently a prince, after all.

Made in Chelsea is on E4, Mondays at 9pm.
