Georgia May Foote has given us all a lesson in how to handle heartbreak.

After announcing that she and former Strictly Come Dancing partner Giovanni Pernice had gone their separate ways last month, she took to Twitter to give him her best wishes for the new series.

As the first episode aired over the weekend, the actress tweeted, "Good luck to all the @bbcstrictly 2016 cast and crew on their launch show tonight! Sending all my love! Im sure its going to be incredible.

She continued her well wishes with a happy birthday message for her ex-boyfriend, adding, Happy birthday @pernicegiovann1 x" alongside a birthday cake emoji.

The professional dancer replied simply saying "thanks" with a cheeky face emoji.

The former Coronation Street actress, who is now following in Pixie Lott's footsteps and starring in Tiffany's, announced the split on Twitter last month.

"It is with great sadness we have decided to split up," she wrote. "There is nobody else involved. Although it was not an easy decision to make, sometimes you realise that it is better to be friends and this is one of those times.

"We both have very busy work schedules for the rest of the year so we are both going to focus on our upcoming work projects and we wish each other well for the future."

She added: "Thank you for all your support for us during and after the series. I love you all very much."

The star later added, "Nothing I ever said about my feelings to Gio were fake before people start. I still love him very very much. But things change. Please... be respectful to me at this time by not saying awful things. This is a hard time for me.

"Gutted isnt the word."

If only everyone was as mature as Georgia!
