Danielle Lloyd has thanked her "hero" fiancé Michael O'Neill after he saved her from a frightening dog attack.

Danielle was out riding her bike with Michael during the Bank Holiday weekend when the couple were pounced upon by a ferocious pitbull-type breed.

Danielle Lloyd and her new boyfriend Michael O'Neil are seen leaving Tamarin restaurant in London together after attending the Dakota Johnson Premiere of How to be single.

Electrician Michael immediately jumped to Danielle's aid, however he was mauled in the process by the vicious mutt. He was taken to hospital with bites to his bottom and leg and, following a stay, has now been allowed home. The dog responsible has been destroyed.

Danielle spoke about their frightening ordeal to the Birmingham Mail, recalling: "He literally saved me as he pushed me behind the gate and came between me and the dog. There was blood everywhere.

"I'm so lucky he was there to save me. Michael is my hero."

Danielle - who has three sons with her ex-husband, footballer Jamie O'Hara - also told of their terrifying encounter on Twitter.

She said: "Thought I was going out for a nice day on the bike when we were attacked by a raging dog. Lucky Michael was there & he saved me! A&E day."

As her followers began asking if she was safe, Danielle added: "Am ok but Michael wasn't so lucky. Horrible, never been so scared."

Danielle, who has previously spoken about her desire to have children with Michael, is set to appear on ITV1's Loose Women on Thursday (1 September) to talk in more detail about the horrific incident.
