The couple, who met on the last series of Strictly Come Dancing, announced their break up this weekend, saying it is an amicable separation and they remain friends.
A statement posted to Twitter by Georgia read: "It is with great sadness we have decided to split up. There is nobody else involved. Although it was not an easy decision to make, sometimes you realise that it is better to be friends and this is one of those times.
"We both have very busy work schedules for the rest of the year so we are both going to focus on our upcoming work projects and we wish each other well for the future."
She added: "Thank you for all your support for us during and after the series. I love you all very much."
Former Coronation Street actress Georgia went on to assure fans her romance with Giovanni had been the real deal and pleaded with people to be kind to her.
"Nothing I ever said about my feelings to Gio were fake before people start. I still love him very very much. But things change. Please... be respectful to me at this time by not saying awful things. This is a hard time for me.
"Gutted isnt the word."
Giovanni simply retweeted Georgia's statement.
In May, they had sparked engagement rumours when Georgia stepped out with a diamond ring on her engagement ring finger, but she denied they had plans to marry, calling the jewel a committment ring.
"In Italy he says that when you get a girlfriend and a serious girlfriend you get a ring. So they don't really do the engagement thing. You just get a ring and it's like a nice commitment but they have to wear it on that finger," she explained on Celebrity Juice.
She later added on Twitter: "We are absolutely not engaged guys. Bloody hell... It's a gift and a tradition. If I was I would tell you, trust me.
The pair met on the 2015 series of Strictly Come Dancing when actress Georgia was partnered with Italian pro dancer Giovanni. At the time, Georgia was dating actor Sean Ward and firmly denied rumours of a flirtation with Giovanni, saying that was "offensive" to say when she had a boyfriend.
Georgia then split with Sean and later confirmed a romance with Giovanni.
In March this year, she described Giovanni as the "best thing" that had ever happened to her.
