Lucy Mecklenburgh has said she's looking forward to watching Lauren Goodger's return to TOWIE later this year, but reckons we'll see a different LG to the girl we're used to seeing on-screen.

Original TOWIE star Lauren is making her much anticipated return to the ITVBe show next series, after a four-year hiatus.

Lauren told Loose Women she will return.

Speaking to this week's Reveal magazine, fellow Essex original Lucy said: "It'll be really interesting to watch Lauren again, and maybe to see her date someone on-screen. I think she'll be very honest, but quieter than viewers may expect, because she's a bit older.

"There are quite a lot of big personalities on the show now, and I'm not sure how comfortable I'd feel in that cast. There are a lot more arguments, too. I'm not even sure how that's possible!"

Lauren and Lucy were among the original stars we met back in series one. Their very first storyline pitted them against each other as love rivals for Mark Wright's affections. Oh, how times have changed, right?!

Back in series one!

Lucy left the show in 2013 after ten series, and is now better known as a fitness and wellbeing guru thanks to her successful Results With Lucy brand. She's also competed on BBC gymnastics show Tumble and Channel 5's Tour de Celeb.

Lauren, meanwhile, has her Lauren's Way beauty brand and has appeared in Dancing On Ice and Celebrity Big Brother. She recently released her own fitness DVD called Lauren's OMG! Workout.

She confirmed on Loose Women earlier this month: "I was meant to be in this series but couldn't because of personal reasons. I am doing the next series, yes. I've had a chat with the execs and they are so lovely, so nice.

"They said they missed me and would love me to come back. I said I would love to come in as Lauren so people can see who Lauren is. Nobody knows who I am. I've always been in drama or in a relationship on TV and now it's about me. I have no drama. I can go in and be one of the girls."

Reveal columnist and current TOWIEstar Megan McKenna is one of the cast members excited about Lauren's return to the show.

"I get on with Lauren, we've been messaging and we're going for a catch up soon," she told us. "I've known her since before I was on TV, she's a lovely girl and I'd love her to come back on TOWIE. I also love Gemma Collins so much, and she's doing a few cameos this series. I think she's jokes, plus she had my back when we were in Celebrity Big Brother together."

Billie Faiers, meanwhile, told us: "Lauren has always been such a good character because she just has so much to give. It's great because she's had a break and now she's ready to come back. I think she'll be back for a while, though, because we wouldn't be making a big deal of it if she was staying for a cameo."
