Love Island's Sophie Gradon has denied ever calling Olivia Buckland's relationship with boyfriend Alex Bowen "fake."

Sophie set the record straight recently while taking part in a live Periscope with boyfriend Tom Powell. The pair had been asked by a fan if they were surprised that so many of the show's couples were still together, and Sophie took that opportunity to insist that she thinks Olivia and Alex are "genuine."

She replied: "No, I genuinely think everyone in the villa, all the couples are genuine. I know some people have recently said how can you slate Olivia and Alex for being fake. I've never, ever said Alex and Olivia are fake. I think they are genuine and very much in love."

That said, there has been some tension between Sophie and Olivia of late, and explaining why, Sophie revealed that she didn't agree with comments Olivia had made about herself and Tom in a recent interview.

She said: "It kicked off a little bit. Liv had done an interview recently and said that she was surprised that me and Tom were together. Basically, she put her opinion across and said that it was best if her and I weren't friends. That's her decision, that's fine. And just the stuff bringing up Zara..."

Fans recently saw Sophie call out Olivia for criticising Zara Holland over her appearance on Loose Women. Zara had been interviewed on the show about losing her Miss GB title, and it provoked plenty of response online.

Some thought the panel had been "too harsh" on Zara, while others suggested she needed to take responsibility for her actions. Miss GB had stripped Zara of her title, after she chose to have sex on TV with Alex while starring on Love Island.

Olivia had responded on Twitter and appeared to criticise Zara for 'hiding behind her mistakes' and 'blaming alcohol.'

Zara has repeatedly said she regrets her actions and while she admitted that alcohol had been involved in her decision to sleep with Alex - she stressed she wasn't using it as an excuse.

Sophie, meanwhile, picked up on Olivia's comments and branded her a 'hypocrite'. She tweeted: "Saying Za wasnt drunk as we didnt get enuf alcohol. One sniff of some wine & Liv was white girl wasted #hypocrite (sic)."

However, Olivia hit back: "@sophiegradon also to confirm - I never said she weren't drunk - I said just don't blame alcohol. So don't worry about that one."

Sophie had also tweeted: "Don't continue to slag ppl off in your magazine interviews if you can't take the heat! #letitgo (sic)."

Tom, meanwhile, revealed he has no issue with Olivia, his old co-star, he added on Periscope: "I haven't got a bad word to say about Liv. I love Liv."
