Zara was stripped of her title, after admitting to having sex on TV while starring on Love Island's second series. She had joined the Loose Women panel to discuss the decision, but her interview had viewers divided and provoked plenty of response online.
Olivia denied "throwing shade" at Zara when having her say on the debate, and that seemed to prompt Sophie to step in to defend her pal.
Zara had said on Loose Women that she "regrets" choosing to sleep with Alex Bowen on his first night in the villa, and has repeatedly said she made a mistake in the villa, fuelled by too much champagne and forgetting the cameras were on.
Olivia, who is now dating Alex, responded on Twitter. She tweeted: "Think before you act." Before adding: "I never have any regrets. Best way to live."
When one Twitter user told Olivia it was a "cheap dig" considering she slept with Rykard Jenkins on the show, she replied: "I had no responsibilities and don't have any regrets. Difference is someone blaming alcohol rather than just owning up to a mistake."
She then clarified: "Ain't throwing shade, just my opinion on how to hold yourself as a person, live up to your mistakes don't hide behind them. We all make em."
Zara, meanwhile, replied: "I'm not hiding behind them!!! No ones perfect." While Sophie later branded Olivia a "hypocrite" for her comments.
One fan had accused Olivia of 'slut-shaming' Zara, pointing out that she had slept with Rykard Jenkins behind Rachel Fenton's back. Sophie replied: "& saying Za wasnt drunk as we didnt get enuf alcohol. One sniff of some wine & Liv was white girl wasted #hypocrite (sic)."
@sophiegradon also to confirm - I never said she weren't drunk - I said just don't blame alcohol. So don't worry about that one— Olivia Buckland (@OliviaDBuck) August 18, 2016
Olivia responded, however, and told Sophie that she had never accused Zara of not being drunk.
She tweeted back: "@sophiegradon also to confirm - I never said she weren't drunk - I said just don't blame alcohol. So don't worry about that one."
Zara had said during her appearance on Loose Women that alcohol had been involved in her decision to have sex - but she stressed that she isn't using that as an excuse for her actions.
"Alcohol, in the moment. I'm a 20-year-old girl and I made a mistake and hold my hands up," she said. "I'm living with the consequences right now. I'm a massive lightweight and I can't drink champagne. I'm not saying that's an excuse."
Following her interview airing, Zara had tweeted: "No one is perfect, everyone makes mistakes! You live and you learn. Thank you for all your amazing comments and support, means everything."
She also praised Sophie for having her back, telling her pal: "@sophiegradon one of my true friends always sticking up for me! #girlcode."
