Olivia Buckland has suggested Gaz Beadle is just trying to stay in the limelight by slating Love Island and claiming the couples won't last.

In a recent interview Gaz had suggested Love Island is "just a carbon copy" of Geordie Shore and Ex On The Beach, both of which he appears on, adding: "They've got this delusional thought that if they stay together they'll do well, but they won't."

Harsh, right?

Olivia, who is love up with fellow islander Alex Bowen, initially retaliated via Twitter, telling Gaz he was "very shallow and small minded" to generalise reality TV relationships.

Now, she's given an interview to Daily Star, elaborating on that point and defending her romance with Alex, which has gone from strength to strength since the show ended.

Olivia suggested Gaz just wanted to make headlines by slagging off a couple that had made their relationship work, since his own on-off romance with co-star Charlotte Crosby has ended.

"Love Island is about a lot more than shagging on TV and getting pissed. I hardly got pissed in there and I met someone that I'm actually in love with," she said.

"[Gaz] and Charlotte haven't had the best of times. I think he's just trying to get back in the limelight and say something about a couple that actually works."

Over to you, Gaz…

Olivia and Alex are blissfully happy.

Gaz had originally told The Sun: "All it is is just a carbon copy of Geordie Shore and Ex On The Beach. ITV know they've got to get young, good-looking people in to have sex, get drunk, argue with each other and fight - and that's what we've been doing on Geordie Shore for five years.

"Let them do what they want, they'll only be famous for three months. They get papped together and they're like, "We're going so well.' Everyone else is like, 'No you aren't.' They've got this delusional thought that if they stay together they'll do well, but they won't."

Olivia hit back via Twitter: "Really @GazGShore very shallow & small minded to generalise relationships in the reality TV industry like that."

She then added: "Watch & learn doll."

Olivia and boyfriend Alex finished second on Love Island this summer. They made it official in the villa and once back in the UK they exchanged 'I love yous' and have now moved in together in Essex.

She told Reveal magazine this week: "We're renting at the minute, so we're saving to buy a house, possibly next April. Once we have our house, we want to get a puppy. We want a French bulldog - we'll name him Giorgio, like Giorgio Armani!"
