We've watched Megan and Pete's relationship develop on screen ever since Megan joined The Only Way Is Essex back in February and on Wednesday night's series finale, they finally exchanged those three special words.

It happened at the circus-themed party for Bobby Cole Norris' 30th birthday after Pete pointed out they've been together nearly six months now.

"That's a long time," agreed Megan.

"It's probably the longest relationship I've ever had, coming from a geezer who is nearly 28," said Pete, before continuing: "I think the first part of that, the first couple of months, was really nice. The last three months has been hell, if I'm honest for you."

Megan and Pete's romance has been rocked by rumours she slept with Jake Hall (which she and Jake denied), and claims she was dirty grinding with another man in Marbella (which she also denied). There have been fallouts with her Girl Band besties Chloe Meadows and Courtney Green, as well as major rows with Chloe Lewis and Lydia Bright.

"If ain't been good for you," said Pete, "and it's been horrible for me because I hate seeing you upset. I stuck around for a reason, because I believe in you and there was something there. I didn't want to walk away from. It's made me realise I've fallen in love with you. I'm glad I met you and you've become part of my life."

Megan simply replied: "I love you too. I do love you."

Megan, who is Reveal's celebrity columnist, played coy earlier this month when we asked if the L bomb had been dropped.

"We haven't brought it up, it's not something we've sat there and spoken about but the way it's going… He's really happy and I am too. I do feel like I'm falling for him. I think he shares the same feelings, but I don't want to rush things."

She added: "Having all this s**t thrown at us has 100 per cent brought us closer together. We are a really strong couple – he has my back, I have his back. I know how lucky I am to have Pete, because usually Essex boys only think of themselves and they're all assholes, but Pete's different. I've got the good one."
