Geordie Shore star Gaz flew to New Zealand from Australia as part of a promotional tour with Marty McKenna, but was denied entry into the country on arrival.
Gaz was then sent back to Oz, before being marched to a deportation centre and questioned for several hours.
Rumours that he had been jailed initially began circulating, but Gaz has now revealed exactly what went on Down Under.
Writing in his weekly column for the Daily Star Online, Gaz - real name Gary - claimed he was turned away from New Zealand because his passport was so "battered".
"To be fair, they had previously told me not to come back to New Zealand with my battered passport (which I didn't get changed), so I guess me and the team are to blame there," he said.
Gaz then found himself locked up with a man who had been held at the deportation centre for three years.
"I was literally cr*pping myself," Gaz wrote. "While I was locked up, my team were trying every possible way to get me home. I got told I couldn't fly through NZ, Dubai, America, Abu Dhabi, or internally through Australia. F***ing amazing."
Gaz explained that eventually officials in Thailand agreed to let him fly back to the UK via its country, meaning he was allowed to go home.
He has now warned others to listen to customs officials if they issue a warning about the condition of a passport.
Meanwhile, Gaz returned to TV screens on Tuesday in the new series of Ex On The Beach</a>, and he didn't waste any time in hopping into bed with Jemma Lucy.
However, Gaz later admitted he "kind of regretted" having sex with Jemma on the first night.
Gaz viewed returning to the MTV show as a "test", to see whether he still has feelings for Charlotte Crosby, and speaking in the Shack Of Secrets during the show, he said he wasn't planning on repeating it.
"The first night I said to myself, don't go in there and bang birds. See if you can prove to yourself: do I need to sh*g every night and bang every bird in there?" he said.
"Do I regret it? Kind of. I don't think I'll be sleeping with her again. I don't really want to sleep with anybody else yet. It will be a test after Jemma to see if I don't sleep with anybody else until I am ready. But I certainly will not be sh*gging someone every single night."
EOTB continues, 10pm, Tuesdays on MTV.
