Celebrity Big Brother's Stephen Bear has hinted that his controversial behaviour is one huge pretence.

From the moment this series launched, Bear has riled his fellow housemates left, right and centre by ruining coffee, goading them into rows and even trashing their beloved year book following the school task.

However, during this evening's episode (15 August), Bear was seen having a quiet chat with James Whale in the garden and he appeared to admit he is simply playing the Big Brother game.

Ex On The Beach star Bear told broadcaster James: "You need controversy. I love heightening the mood, saying 'I can't believe you f***ing did that'. Really, I don't give two f***s. I find it hilarious."

He added: "I only need to say one or two things and it will spark a massive argument. Mate, it's a game in here."

Bear has certainly divided opinion on the outside world and has manage to survive three evictions already. Last week, his former EOTB co-star Megan McKenna told fans that the CBB housemates just need to "play him at his own game".

And tonight, Megan's TOWIE cast mate Chloe Sims also told her followers: "I absolutely love @stephen_bear cracks me up. #mischievious #funny #Bear2win."

But former Big Brother contestant Aisleyne Horgan-Wallace does not agree. She tweeted: "I think they should send in Super Nanny to sort Bear out, he's such a MELT #cbb."

CBB continues at 9pm on Channel 5.
