The 67-year-old entertainer lost his place in the CBB house on Friday (5 August) after making a "number of comments" that could have offended both housemates and the wider public.
A statement said: "Big Brother has taken the decision to remove Christopher Biggins from the Celebrity Big Brother house.
"Since entering Big Brother, he has made a number of comments capable of causing great offence to housemates and the viewing public. Big Brother does not tolerate offensive language capable of causing widespread offence. Christopher Biggins has left the house."
No details about the exact comments were revealed by BB bosses, although he was seen having a conversation about bisexuality with Renee Graziano earlier this week.
He'd said: "The worst type, I'm afraid to say, are the bisexuals. What it is, is people not wanting to admit that they're gay? Be honest. That's what you've got to be."
At the start of Friday night's live show, host Emma Willis confirmed Biggins' exit (met with boos from the crowd) and said the events and aftermath would be shown on Saturday evening's episode.
Biggins' removal was also announced on Twitter, which led some viewers to question why Ex On The Beach star Stephen Bear was given a formal warning but not removed for aggressive behaviour, when he threw a mug against a mirror, smashing it. Some pointed out Geordie Shore's Marnie Simpson wasn't reprimanded when she flashed her boobs at Saira Khan, while Aubrey O'Day received a formal warning but was allowed to stay after she spat in Bear's sandwich and tea.
@bbuk This is a joke. How has Bear been excused on a number of occasions for his unacceptable behaviour? & also Marnie flashing her tits?!— Lucy Morris (@LucyMorris91) August 5, 2016
There has been no comment yet from Biggins' Twitter account, which has been run by friends and fans while he was in the house.
He's a veteran of reality shows, having previously appeared in I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!, Celebrity Come Dine With Me, Celebrity MasterChef and Celebrity Five Go To...
Biggins' exit comes on the same day the first CBB eviction is held: either Grant Bovey or James Whale will be going home in Friday evening's live show.
CBB continues 9pm on Channel 5.
