Ferne McCann has ruled out a return to TOWIE, exclusively telling Reveal that she "doesn't think there is a place for her" on the show anymore.

Back in February, Ferne told fans of The Only Way Is Essex that she had decided to leave the reality show and focus on other opportunities that were coming her way.

Since quitting, we've seen Ferne go on to bag herself a regular presenting spot on This Morning, star in a musical production of The Great Gatsby, and there have even been talk that she is going to appear in a film too.

Catching up with Ferne, she tells us that she has "moved on" from TOWIE and revealed why she now wouldn't go back.

She said: "I don't think I would [completely return to TOWIE]. I feel like my life has moved on... I absolutely love the show and I am still a massive fan. I didn't miss an episode on the last series, I think it's fantastic, but I have left the show."

Fans had hoped to see more of Ferne, after she made a fleeting cameo over FaceTime in the new series. Ferne had got in touch with Billie Faiers' daughter Nelly to wish her a happy birthday when she turned two earlier this month.

However, Ferne told us: "Im still really good friends with Danielle [Armstrong] and Billie, but really they are my only two friends on TOWIE now. I don't really think there would be a place for me on the show anymore."

Following Ferne's exit, her BFF Jessica Wright also announced that she had decided to quit the show after five years. Since then, viewers have seen a slew of new additions to the cast including Pete Wicks' girlfriend Megan McKenna and her two best friend Chloe Meadows and Courtney Green.

Love Island star Jon Clark and his younger brother Chris Clark are now on the scene, and more recently, Chris' new flame Amber Dowding has joined the show too.

Ferne has said she doesn't think there is a place for her on TOWIE, now many of her friends have left.

Reflecting on how the cast has changed, Ferne told us that she thinks it's "great" that the show is constantly gaining new additions.

"I think the new castmembers are fantastic," she said. "I was a new castmember myself back in series nine, I know what it feels like. They always mix it up and bring fresh storylines, so I always like new cast. I think it's great."

As for Ferne, though, she is busy focusing on her own career away from the show, and has teased many exciting projects in the pipeline.

Ferne added: "I'm working on a few bits in the film industry which is really exciting an and I'm working on a short film towards the end of the year. I'm also looking at a few scripts, not just for me to act in, but I'm really interested in the whole producing side as well.

"I've got a few things coming out towards the end of the year which I'm really excited about and I think a few people are going to be quite surprised and shocked at. Watch this space."
