Exclusive: Did Love Island's Nathan Massey, Cara de la Hoyde receive stick from friends for gushy PDAs?

Love Island stars Nathan Massey and Cara de la Hoyde struggled not to get embarrassed when it came to the soppy stuff, but that doesn't mean they didn't give us their fair share.

One of the sweetest moments from the series was Nathan telling Cara he thinks she is her soulmate, and we could totally relate to Cara not being able to say the word 'boyfriend' without pulling a face (FYI, she still does that...), so we were eager to know what their friends thought of them getting all gushy with each other on camera.

Speaking to Reveal, Cara and Nathan told us that, surprisingly, they didn't get any stick from their pals. In fact, Nathan told us: "They are totally for it..."

Now, they can definitely stop being coy about it, right?

Revealing that she and Nathan have already met a handful of each other's friends, Cara said they have been nothing but supportive of the pair's new romance.

She told us: "They can see it is so genuine, so it doesn't make it cringey. If you were watching somebody and you knew they were forcing it, that's a bit awkward to watch. For us, it was just natural. Don't get me wrong, saying the word 'boyfriend', I do think, 'Oh my god, I'm 26… boyfriend reminds me of being at school.' But it's good."

Nathan admitted he does struggle when it comes to laying out his feelings, but Cara drew the soppiness out of him and sometimes, he just couldn't hold back.

He said: "Personally I'm not like that, but you know what, it's meeting someone like Cara and being in someone's company for six weeks every single day and getting on as well as we did, you've got to take that with two hands.

"On the outside world, we're not going to be with each other as much, but I think we'll get on perfectly. We only had two arguments. We bickered and I'm the hardest person to live with. I love the last word."

Cara and Nathan's romance had us all hooked this series, and they went on to be crowned this year's winners during Love Island's grand finale.

Now they are back home again, the couple tell us they are looking forward to having some alone time without the cameras following them.

Cara said: "It's nice to be out, take the relationship and everything as it comes and just not put any pressure on it. We know that we love each other and we're going to be together, so there's no need to rush it. Just let happen."

Speaking of their plans, Nathan revealed what he has in store for himself and Cara: "Nando's. A cinema date. We've been on a few dates on Love Island… They're going to be hard to top, but I can't wait to do just normal things, without everyone and all the cameras on us. It's nice to have a bit of privacy."

Fingers crossed they won't be falling completely off our radar, as we'd love to see Nathan and Cara back on our screens. Rumours have been rife that the pair could be joining the cast of TOWIE, and giving us all hope, Nathan and Cara admitted it's something they would definitely be up for.

"[If the opportunity came up] of course we would give it a go," Nathan revealed. "It's bettering your life, isn't it? Who wouldn't want to better their life? What a great way to do it.

Watch this space then, maybe?
