Following Love Island's final, Caroline received a bit of a backlash on Twitter, with many accusing her of trying to flirt with the guys on the show. While she hasn't responded to the claims, Nathan has spoken out on her behalf and insisted the criticism Caroline has had to face is "b******t."
Speculation came after fans saw Caroline interacting with the finalists on the show and following a picture Alex Bowen had posted of himself and Caroline cuddled up together.
One user had commented: "I don't think this is ok." Another said: "The look on flacks face...pfttt he's just going to break livs heart..."
However, Nathan has insisted there was nothing to it.
Speaking to Reveal following his and girlfriend Cara de la Hoyde's Love Island win, Nathan said: "Love Island we are a family, even Caroline. She's like an older sister to me. There was no sexual chemistry with anyone else, we were brothers and sisters. That was the same with Caroline. It's absolute b******t. She's a darling of a woman and I totally disagree."
Cara, meanwhile, said that she "doesn't understand" where all the hate has come from, adding: "[Caroline] is Love Island. You can't have Love Island without Caroline. What are they going to do?"
The couple also revealed that Caroline would often hang around with them on the show and they credited her for being so interested in the islanders.
Nathan said: "You're happy to meet her and have a conversation and she always went out of her way to take the time to speak to you. She was generally interested."
"There was a lot of times that the girls were really nervous and she would tell us we were alright," Cara added. "On the final I told her I was scared and she said, 'You're alright, just calm down.' She's lovely."
After seeing Nathan and Cara's support for her, Caroline responded to the pair on Twitter. She tweeted: ""Thank you @NathanMassey_ and @Miss_Delahoyde ...I was ignoring all the silly comments, but you two are [heart emoji]."
Sophie Gradon also jumped to Caroline's defence. She told her followers on the social media site: "I [love] Caroline Flack #cutflacksomeslack."
As for Nathan and Cara, though, they have been lucky enough to avoid any negative comments online. Speaking about the reaction they have received since winning the dating show, the couple revealed it has all been very positive.
Cara said: "I did think, 'oh god, we're going to get something,' but we've looked through our comments and there's nothing that we've seen and thought was awful. It's all been so positive."
They beat Olivia Buckland and Alex Bowen, Scott Thomas and Kady McDermott, Adam Maxted and Katie Salmon to the title, meaning they pocketed the £50,000 prize fund between them.
Love Island: Heading Home airs on Sunday 17 July at 9pm on ITV2.
