Fans will know Jess was crowned the winner of Love Island's first series, alongside her then boyfriend Max Morley. After being told they had won the show, she and Max then had to choose whether they wanted to keep the £50,000 for themselves or share it between them, by choosing money or love.
They both chose love and split the winnings, but now Jess admits she would have rather pocketed the lot...
As Love Island's final aired last night, viewers saw winners Nathan Massey and Cara de la Hoyde having to do the same thing when it came to the cash.
They each chose an envelope which contained a different amount inside. Nathan's had £0 and Cara's had £50,000 - meaning she then had to chose whether or not to share it with her beau. She, of course, chose to split it.
A fan then tweeted while tuning in: "This part is where @jessicahayes77 should of just taken the whole amount." And added a crying with laughter emoji.
Jess replied: "You live and learn."
It's no secret that things have turned sour between herself and her ex Max since they won the show last year. Their relationship only lasted six weeks following their time together in the Love Island villa, and Max went on to date Geordie Shore star Charlotte Crosby soon after.
Since then, Jess and Max have been known to hit out at each other on Twitter.
In May, Max labelled his relationship with Jess as "a big mistake." Ahead of Love Island's latest series, ITV2 had been dishing out tips for the new islanders and used Max as their example.
He had been deciding whether to pursue a romance with Jess or Naomi Ball and described it as a "genuine penis/head dilemma." ITV had tweeted: "Tip 2: Communication is key especially between your head & other bits #LessonsInLoveIsland #LoveIsland @LoveIsland," prompting Max to reply: "It was a hard decision."
Fans know that in the end he decided to work things through with Jess, and Max added in a second tweet: "I made a big mistake."
Jess, meanwhile, replied: "Is he still going on jeeeez the guy makes my skin crawl have a day off #SleezeBag."
Max too has said he "regrets" not pocketing the entire prize fund for himself.
Sharing his own tips for this year's islanders two months ago, Max said: "Regrets? No. Except maybe I'd have taken [the] full 50 grand, but no regrets. Take the full 50 thousand... Love's for mugs, money is for life."
Fingers crossed things work out slightly better for this year's winners Nathan and Cara.
Gushing about Nathan on last night's final, Cara said: "Nathan the carpenter. I want to start by thanking you for being here. I never thought coming in here I'd meet someone as special as you, let alone walk in and find my soul mate on the first day."
