Former Miss Great Britain Sophie, 30, quit the ITV2 show after fearing she'd jeopardised her relationship with Tom by getting close to glamour model Katie Salmon, 20.
It came as a surprise for Tom, 24, who was eliminated last week and now back home in the UK, as he told fans: "I have no idea what to do. Just a waiting game now."
He later updated Twitter followers to say he'd been on the phone with Sophie, but as it was late at night, they'd decided to speak the next day.
"So I just got off the phone to Sophie... Still no idea what's going on... We've agreed it's late were gonna speak tomorrow when she's home and settled back in."
Of course, as we're all so invested in their relationship after watching them every night on TV, plenty of viewers had an opinion, with some saying Tom shouldn't give Sophie a second chance and others telling him to make it work.
Tom only responded to one, who told him viewers only see one hour of footage every night out of 24 hours in the day, and Tom should do whatever felt right to him.
Retweeting her comment, he replied: "Think that's the best opinion I've heard."
Tom and Sophie were officially boyfriend and girlfriend until his elimination last week. After he left, Sophie struck up a bond with newcomer Katie, which led to a kiss during a date and them coupling together.
But after the islanders played a game involving tweets from the public, and Sophie realised she'd been compared to Terry Walsh, she quickly did a U-Turn and cooled things with Katie, in order to save her romance with Tom.
Terry, of course, came in for some criticism when he ditched freshly eliminated girlfriend Malin Andersson to hook up with then-newcomer Emma-Jane Woodham.
Sophie told us after her exit: "I'm definitely no Terry. I want to be 100 percent loyal to Tom."
Over to you, Tom…
Love Island airs 9pm on ITV2.
