Lateysha is mum to ten-month-old daughter Wynter and when she made her Big Brother debut, she came under fire for signing up for the show and leaving behind her baby girl. Some said it was "selfish" of the former Valleys star, but her ex and her daughter's father Ben has rubbished such claims.
In a recent interview with Heat magazine, Ben admitted that the baby backlash Lateysha has received has "amused" him.
He jumped to Lateysha's defence and insisted their daughter Wynter is "her life", before explaining that Lateysha has headed into the Big Brother house with her daughter's future in mind.
Ben said: "The people who are saying [Lateysha is] selfish might not understand the opportunities that being on reality TV can bring. She's only trying to benefit Wynter in the future."
Prior to appearing on Big Brother, Latyesha had appeared to predict the backlash over her choice to do the show and cryptically defended her actions on Instagram. A week before Big Brother's current series kicked off, she posted a selfie with baby Wynter and added the caption: "Everything I do, I do it for you."
Ben, meanwhile, has previously spoken out in support of Lateysha on Wynter's Instagram page. The tot has her own account on the social media app, and uploading a shot of himself and Wynter together, Ben said: "I find it amusing seeing the certain internet trolls questioning how Lateysha can leave her child to go on big brother.
"There has been numerous people enter the house with children. Let me assure you from now Wynter is in safe hands with me, she is very happy and she has got a massive family to be there for her aswell. #bbuk (sic)"
He and Lateysha welcomed daughter Wynter in September last year. They have since split since becoming parents, with Ben revealing it had been a "mutual decision" between the pair.
While she is based in Wales, Ben is from London and admitted that the distance had put strain on their romance. That doesn't mean he and Lateysha are no longer close, as Ben revealed the exes are still "very good friends" and didn't rule out a reunion in the future.
He said: "You never know with me and her. I feel like maybe one day we might get back together... We care about each other so much."
For now, though, he is looking after little Wynter while Latyesha is on BB (they usual share parenting duties), and Ben he is proud of how well Lateysha is doing on the show so far.
"She's showing she's funny and entertaining," he gushed. "But she's also showing a sweet side, which is the side I love and did fall in love with."
