The former BBC journalist has been nominated for eviction this week alongside Marco Pierre White Jr, Georgina Leigh Cantwell and Emma Jensen, but speaking on Big Brother's Bit On The Side, Vanessa said he should be kept in the house longer.
"I know Andy in real life," she said. "He's a producer, I work with him. He's a delightful fellow, he's fantastically nice, bright, very kind, actually, and hugely intelligent. I think they have to give him a chance.
"Why don't they allow him to have one interesting conversation a day instead of saying, 'I like your shoes, I like your hat, this is my bum, there are my tits.' Why can't they talk to him about World War II for a bit longer? Give him a chance!"
Fellow panellist Stevi Ritchie agreed, saying: "I like that he's so straight forward. There is no BS with him. He's straight down the line. I would love to keep him in there until the end."
Andy's nominations were largely based on his attitude, with Evelyn saying: "I think he might be a bit arrogant." Emma said Andy didn't seem to enjoy the "fun" parts of the house, while Sam said: "The way he spoke to me was like he was above myself. I feel like everyone should be reasonable and listen to other people's opinions."
Lateysha said Andy had a "weird attitude" lately.
