Last night (14 June), viewers had tuned in to see the housemates find out about The Other house live on air. However, the live broadcast on Channel 5 suffered several technical glitches, leaving some viewers disappointed.
They took to Twitter to vent their frustration, after the show continuously cut to adverts and cut out the sound of housemates talking.
Big Brother had chosen to air a live special for half hour, following its main highlights show. It's purpose was to show how the housemates would react to finding out there is a second house filled with other housemates that have been plotting against them.
In a twist, Chelsea was called to the Diary Room, as The Others had chosen to kidnap him and take away his housemate status. He was forced to leave the house immediately and join The Others, where he reunited with Alex Cannon and Jackson Blyton and came face-to-face with Jayne Connery.
Fans were aware that Chelsea and Jayne have history, as she has spoken about the pair falling out prior to the show. However, technical problems meant the live feed was interrupted when the pair were reunited.
Viewers only got to see Jayne say: "Hi Chelsea."
The conversation between The Others was also muted when they started to discuss axed housemate Andrew Tate. He had been removed from the house earlier this week.
Andrew has claimed he was forced to leave after coming up with a "masterplan" that had worried show bosses. A spokesperson for Big Brother has said that Andrew's claims are "completely false" and put his exit down to information that had come to light while he was on the show. They declined to give any further comment.
Footage also showed Marco in the Diary Room being questioned by Big Brother about Chelsea's sudden exit, before then being told to return to the house.
Taking to Twitter, viewers expressed their dismay at the live episode, with many suggesting Marco's time in the Diary Room was unnecessary.
One user commented: "I totally understand/sympathise when live TV goes wrong, but that diary room footage of Marco was so unnecessary/biased #grrr #bbuk."
Another said: "Maybe the #BigBrother Live twist was for us not to see anything."
Others suggested that the live twist had been a "waste of time", after not being as dramatic as they had hoped.
what a waste off time that was what was the point in the twist honestly you going get people turning off soon rubbish #bigbrother— Kerrie Pearson (@friutypie1) June 14, 2016
if that was comparable with a football game, then that live "twist" would have received a red card, and banned for 7 matches#BBUK— Vladimir Raul (@EmperorMendoza) June 14, 2016
Anyone else wondering why that was just broadcast? Such a lame live show, it doesn't even deserve to make tomorrow's highlights!! #BBUK— Parkerboy (@DailyParkerboy) June 14, 2016
My favourite part about the #BBUK live twist show was the four ad breaks in half an hour.— Luke (@thexaxix) June 14, 2016
So the big live twist was more adverts, bird noises and a mundane diary room chat. I WAS HOOKED #bbuk— Luke Marsden (@LukeMarsden) June 14, 2016
I'm sorry, I love Big Brother but this live bit is a complete shambles. What is the point of Marco in the Diary Room? #BBUK— Elliot Gonzalez (@elliot_gonzalez) June 14, 2016
When contacted by Reveal, a spokesperson for BB told us: "Just a technical hitch which we apologised for during BOTS. Viewers were able to see what they missed on last night's BOTS."
During last night's Bit On The Side spinoff, host Rylan Clark-Neal had addressed the technical issues and told viewers: "As some of you may have witnessed there were some serious technical difficulties with the live stream on Channel 5 and we can only apologise for that. Do not worry because here on BOTS we will be showing you that moment Chelsea was made an other and saw Jayne for the very first time."
They then aired a clip of Chelsea walking into the other house and awkwardly greeting Jayne, he said: "Oh my god, how are you?"
Chelsea then kissed her on the cheek, before going on to greet the rest of the Others. Jayne was then seen telling Charlie: "I'm ok now, yeah. Thank you Big Brother."
Big Brother airs nightly on Channel 5.
