Over the weekend, Zayn was due to perform at Capital FM's Summertime Ball. It would have been his first UK solo performance, however, Zayn pulled out last minute after suffering from anxiety.
He apologised to his fans on Twitter, opening up about his struggles with anxiety over the last few months. Supporting her beau, Gigi then responded with a heartfelt message, telling the 23-year-old that she "loves him" and "will always be proud" of him.
She tagged Zayn in a tweet, along with a love heart emoji. Her tweet included a screenshot of a lengthy message she had wrote.
It read: "Z- I've seen the battles you go through and the way you fight to get to a place that allows you to get up there for your fans. Your bravery in those times makes me proud, but your honesty last night proved what you're all about, being real.
"Human recognises human. You made the best of the situation and have given your fans an opportunity to understand you better as a performer. Those who can find compassion now are the ones that deserve to watch you continue to grow. We are all hear to support you and make each experience easier.
"Your talent and good heart will never lead you wrong. Love you and so proud of you always x G."
Zayn had originally tweeted: "Unfortunately my anxiety that has haunted me throughout the last few months around live performances has gotten the better of me ... with the magnitude of the event, I have suffered the worst anxiety of my career."
He continued: "I cannot apologise enough but I want to be honest with everyone who has patiently waited to see me, I promise I will do my best to make this up to everybody I've let down today. I know those who suffer anxiety will understand and I hope that those who don't can empathise with my situation."
Gigi's public support for him has appeared to rubbish rumours the couple have split.
Zayn and Gigi have been plagued by split rumours earlier this month, however, they have never been confirmed. Instead, Gigi has continued to hint she and Zayn are still dating.
According to Just Jared, claims they had ended their romance have been "completely false." A source had told the US publication: "Gigi and Zayn are still together.
"The break-up reports are completely false. And they have met each other's families despite the false rumours circulating."
Gigi and Zayn first went public with their romance in December last year. Rumours first circulated suggesting they were together a month before, in November.
