Now, his rep has confirmed the incident in a statement released to Daily Mail, saying the event leading to his caution had been meant as a "mindless piece of fun" and Scotty, 28, understands it was "foolish" and he's apologetic.

"This was meant to be a mindless piece of fun, but Scott realises how foolish it was and apologises for wasting police time," said the spokesperson.

"Scott complied with police and was cautioned and released."

Scotty has not tweeted about the incident since it was made public, but did hint at trouble on Monday when he told fans: "Well that was a horrendous six hours."
