Former TOWIE star Mario, who left the show in 2015, was recently diagnosed with a hernia and has had an operation to correct it.

Judging by his Twitter feed, it appears Mario's operation was a success and he has been given the all-clear to return home to recover. And he already knows just how he is going to do that!

Sharing a picture of himself in hospital with a cannula in his hand, Mario this evening told his followers: "Home time... Pizza and a movie #recovery."

Last night, he had explained: "Starting to feel nervous about tomorrow #operation #hernia."

Despite his fears - and obvious pain - Mario has been able to make light of his hospital visit. Sharing a joke that he made with a nurse today about compression stockings, he certainly made us chuckle!

Mario also tweeted: "Nurse - I need to measure your ankle, have you worn stockings before Mario? Me - yes, but not for medical reasons! Haha her poor face."

Get well soon, Mario, and enjoy that pizza - you deserve it!
