Yesterday, Gary's co-stars travelled down to the capital to celebrate Geordie Shore's milestone with MTV. Charlotte Crosby and co updated fans with plenty of Snapchats and pictures from the party, and even old castmates including Jay Gardner, Sophie Kasaei and James Tindale were in attendance.
Gary, however, tweeted to tell fans he wouldn't be attending and has now admitted it's because he didn't want his friends to worry about any drama happening between himself and Charlotte.
Gary had originally tweeted: "5 years f**king hell!!!! Happy birthday to the Gshore crew... Shame things are abit s**t atm and I'am not going London... Special day tho (sic)."
Things have been tense between him and Charlotte ever since reports surfaced claiming he had bedded three different girls while filming for Ex On The Beach last month. Gary is yet to confirm the rumours, but they were enough for Charlotte to vow to stay well away from her co-star.
She and Gaz had been trying to work out if they had a future together, and she confessed she would have committed to him if he had stayed loyal during filming.
Taking to his new column with Daily Star, Gaz suggested things still haven't been sorted with Charlotte.
He said: "I didn't go to London this week to celebrate the fifth birthday as I wanted the whole team to have an amazing time without having to worry about me and Char, but I celebrated in Newcastle."
"So, no, Charlotte didn't 'ban' me from the event, and no, I'm not a love rat," Gary added. "How can you even be one if you're not in a relationship in the first place?"
Since their fallout, Gary has claimed Charlotte is actually to blame for the breakdown of their relationship. He has said he was willing to commit to Charlotte, but her reservations to give things a go had left him confused.
Charlotte expressed her concerns over trusting Gary, thanks to their turbulent history. As a result, the couple didn't put a label on their relationship and both Charlotte and Gary have insisted they have always been single - despite everyone presuming they had been dating over the last few months.
Gary has also suggested fans will begin to see his side of the story - after he has had to deal with some accusing him of hurting Charlotte again.
Gary recently revealed he is "still hurting" over his drama with Charlotte, and said that a lot of things will be explained during the latest series of Geordie Shore: Big Birthday Battle.
"Everyone has been asking what is going on with me and Charlotte," he added in his column. "I don't really want to say much as a lot of stuff has been and gone, but I will say keep watching the Big Birthday Battle every Tuesday and a lot of things will be explained.
"I'm happy being the villain, but sometimes, it's not always me."
Currently on the show, viewers have seen Gaz tell Charlotte he is only interested in her. He was finally honest about how he felt with Charlotte, telling her she is the only girl that makes him "nervous."
The couple then agreed to start officially seeing each other and in last night's episode of the show, fans saw Gary take Charlotte out on their first proper date.
They went for a romantic dinner and he had pulled out all the stops, with rose petals, candles and champagne. Gaz gushed: "I have grown up. I wasn't ready for commitment and to be with Charlotte back then, but now, I am."
Charlotte, meanwhile, was overwhelmed with Gaz's efforts. She said: "I have known Gary for so many years and we've been through so much together. How on earth can he make us feel that I'm only just meeting him for the first time again?
"I've never felt this feeling before. I feel so special and it's Gary that is making us feel this way. This is all I've ever wanted him to do... now it's here, I just feel so happy about it."
