Love Island star Josh Ritchie has ruled out a return to the show's second series, tweeting us at Reveal HQ to say he won't be going back. Boo.

We all thought we might have a familiar face entering the villa this time round, but despite hinting at a return, Josh has now confirmed he won't be heading back onto Love Island.

He told us: "Not going lie wish I was going back in it but I'm not (sic)."

Josh appeared on the first series of the ITV2 dating show last year, and made it to the live final. He was known for his onscreen romances with Jess Hayes and Naomi Ball, but Josh finished the show coupled up with his good friend Lauren Richardson and no relationship to pursue.

He had sparked speculation he could be going back into the Love Island villa yesterday (23 May), when tweeting about the show's new line up. Josh posted an emoji of a pair of eyes and tweeted: "So who's in @loveisland new line up tomorrow hmmmmmm."

His tweet had everyone talking, with many fans admitting they wish he could appear again.

Other familiar faces had been rumoured too, including Ex On The Beach star Jordan Davies and Lady Colin Campbell's son Dima, but they weren't included in the lineup when Love Island's new contestants were revealed earlier today.

Instead, fans will see Miss Great Britain Zara Holland make her Love Island debut, alongside Tommy Mallet's BFF Nathan Massey and Emmerdale star Adam Thomas' twin brother Scott.

Scott is actually a pal of Josh's and it looks like he'll be rooting for him when he steps into the villa. Josh tweeted: "To my boy @scottyspecial yeh he is going smash @LoveIsland let me tell you this right now!! Good luck bruv see you when your out."

He also offered some advice to the new Love Island boys, after hearing that they were all hoping to find love on the show. Josh shared two crying with laughter emojis and said: "All gezzas saying they looking for love! When you get out your going have so manny begs on you your not going no what to do ALL BEST LADS."

They have been warned...

Love Island returns Monday 30 May at 9pm on ITV2.
