Last summer, Max and Jess won ITV2's dating show. They were voted the winning couple of the series by viewers, but then had a tricky decision when it came to taking home their £50,000 prize.
Host Caroline Flack revealed they each had to choose between love and money. If they both picked love, they got to share the winnings between them, if they both picked money they would walk away with nothing, and if one chose love and one chose money - the person that chose money would bag the entire £50,000 for themselves.
Max and Jess both went for 'love', meaning they each returned home with £25,000 in their pocket. However, Max has since said he wishes he kept the full prize fund for himself...
Chatting to showbiz news site Its Biz News (founded by former TOWIE star Ricky Rayment), Max insisted he had no regrets from his time on Love Island, but if he had to pick one, it would be not keeping the money for himself.
Max said: "Regrets? No. Except maybe I'd have taken [the] full 50 grand, but no regrets."
He then shared his tips for the show's new contestants and advised them to pick money over love. Max added: "Take the full 50 thousand... Love's for mugs, money is for life."
The reality star couldn't resist making a dig at his former flame Jess either, and another tip of his was: "Don't pick a girl with red hair called Jess, she's crazy."
Instead, he pointed newcomers in the direction of Caroline. "Forget about anyone in the villa and just try to pull Caroline Flack because she's a rocket," he said.
Fans of Love Island will know that Jess and Max split six weeks after appearing on the show and things have remained bitter between them ever since.
Jess had accused Max of being unfaithful while he was dating her and hit out at her co-star, after it was revealed he had struck up a romance with Geordie Shore star Charlotte Crosby just weeks after their break up.
Since then, they have been seen trading insults at each other on social media on several occasions. Just recently, Max tweeted that his romance with Jess had been a "big mistake."
That led Jess to say: "Is he still going on jeeeez the guy makes my skin crawl have a day off #SleezeBag."
Love Island is set to return to our screens next week on Monday 30 May. Caroline will return to present the show, and it's rumoured a few familiar faces could be in this year's lineup - including Ex On The Beach star Jordan Davies and Lady Colin Campbell's son Dima.
