Love Island star Max Morley has labelled his romance with ex-girlfriend Jess Hayes "a big mistake."

The reality star made the admission earlier today on Twitter, after a new video was shared by ITV2's account. They had been teasing the new series of Love Island and joked that this year's contestants should use their head and not their, ahem, bits.

They used Max as an example and tweeted: "Tip 2: Communication is key especially between your head & other bits #LessonsInLoveIsland #LoveIsland @LoveIsland."

Max and Jess dated for six weeks last summer.

In the video, Max can be seen debating whether to continue his romance with Jess or pursue something new with Naomi Ball. He tells the camera: "Do I now carry on with Jess, get my end away? Or do I start with something Naomi and not have sex?"

"It's a genuine penis/head dilemma," he claimed.

Fans will remember that Max had initially pursued Jess, as Naomi had been dating Josh Ritchie on the show at the time. She, however, then decided that she was more attracted to Max and he ended things with Jess to couple up with Naomi instead.

However, Naomi quickly got the boot, as she was accused of leading both Josh and Max on. And following her exit, Max went out of his way to reunite with Jess. The pair then went on to become an official couple and ended up winning Love Island together.

Back home, they dated for six weeks before splitting and things have turned bitter between them since.

Max re-tweeted ITV2's video and said it had been a "hard decision" picking between Naomi and Jess. Although, Naomi replied: "@maxmorley1 no it wasn't you liar."

Proving things between himself and Jess are still sour, Naomi's tweet prompted Max to tweet: "I made a big mistake." He also added several crying with laughter emojis.

His tweets comes as fans are preparing for the new series of Love Island to hit our screens. Host Caroline Flack recently confirmed that Love Island will return on 30 May and it has been teased that we could see a few familiar faces this time round, including Ex On The Beach's Jordan Davies and Lady Colin Campbell's son Dima.
