The couple's ups and downs played out on screen before they both left the show. Now, Lauren is happily single and focused on her career, while Kirk has just welcomed a daughter.
Speaking to Daily Mail, fashion designer Lauren said: "Me and Kirk are in a very nice place where we can check on each other, we're doing good. He's loving being a father. He always wanted to be a dad and it's always been a massive goal for him.
'We had about 100 times of being acrimonious but we've been OK for a good year and we've been friendly. I think so long as you don't overstep any marks you keep that friendly face. When I found out he's having a baby I messaged him."
The former co-stars previously dated for nine months back in 2011, briefly reuniting then splitting in 2013. They gave romance another go in 2014 but things didn't work out.
Lauren has previously said Kirk's the only man she "ever loved" on TOWIE. She also dated Mario Falcone, Lewis Bloor and Tom Pearce. "I've only had one love on the show and that was Kirk. I've dated other guys but it's never been anything serious."
Despite that, there have been acrimonious moments between Lauren and Kirk over the years.
In an interview with Reveal in 2012, Kirk had said: "Sometimes I don't know what I ever saw in her. I thought I fancied her, but now I don't know. I like older women – and Lauren's about 30, even though she says she's something like 27. But I think she looks quite haggard."
While Lauren told New! magazine in 2015: "We try to be friends and then it becomes slightly more than friends, and then it all just turns sour. He has two personalities. One is lovely, and one is – the other one. He has a sweet side, you want to care for him and look after him. He's not a bad person, but it's a lot to take on."
