The Voice contestant Lydia Lucy could permanently replace Fergie in the Black Eyed Peas, according to reports.

Lydia - who has also appeared on talent show X Factor in the past - stepped in to perform with the U.S band at a gig at the Royal Albert Hall this week, and now it seems that it could become a more regular fix for the Essex girl.

A source told The Sun: "A deal is being worked out currently for Lydia to join the band to replace Fergie."

It went on to explain: "It is a trial for her to begin with, but everyone involved is confident that her position will become permanent and tours are being planned with her involved."

And as expected Lydia, 22, is ecstatic at the chance to join the band, who are responsible for a plethora of hits including 'Where Is The Love?' and 'I Gotta Feeling'. The source added: "It's a massive step for her, and she is delighted."

The plan was made by artist, who was the singer's mentor on The Voice, where Lydia reached the final round but missed out on winning to Kevin Simm.

However, promised he would make the talented girl a "superstar" and announced he would do a free show in London, where Lydia would also perform.

And true to his word, this happened earlier in the week! A proud Lydia couldn't resist sharing a snap of herself on stage with the band, along with the caption: "Wow. Last night was definitely a good night #blackeyedpeas @iamwill @officialtaboo @apldeap".

Now it seems like Lydia has impressed and bandmates Taboo and so much, that she could continue performing with them. Watch this space...
