Well, you may not remember, but it was a long time before he first popped up in Albert Square playing the now-iconic Grant Mitchell.
In Emmerdale (known as Emmerdale Farm at the time), Ross appeared as tearaway and army deserter Graham Lodsworth, and clearly his debut on the ITV soap in 1986 impressed the big bosses at 'Enders.
Ross joined EastEnders in 1990, and basically, he easily wins the title of most loveable hard man.
After nine years, Ross left in 1999, but returned for a year in 2005. Fans had been desperate to see his iconic character make a return to the soap for years, and finally, we've got our wish, as he is back in Walford (albeit briefly)!
Unfortunately, it's not under the best circumstances - but this is soap land after all - as Grant is back for his mother Peggy Mitchell, who is dying of cancer. Sob.
Fans are rejoicing at seeing Grant, Peggy (played by Barbara Windsor) and Phil (Steve McFadden) together again, and quite frankly, so are we.
