Andrew Lloyd Webber "furious" that Nicole Scherzinger quit Cats for X Factor return

Nicole Scherzinger WILL return to X Factor, according to Andrew Lloyd Webber, who claims she's left his musical Cats to reprise her judging role.

There are three vacant spots alongside Simon Cowell on the current X Factor panel after last year's judges Cheryl, Nick Grimshaw and Rita Ora all decided to quit.

Rumoured replacements have included former judges Sharon Osbourne, Louis Walsh and Nicole… and it seems the rumour about Nicole may well be truth.

Nicole is a former X Factor judge.

Appearing on The Economist Radio, Andrew Lloyd Webber told interviewer Anne McElvoy that Nicole had left her role in Cats, just a week before Broadway rehearsals were slated to begin. And he's not happy...

"A week before we were going into rehearsals with Cats on Broadway, which luckily I'm not producing, I have to say, she calls me and says she's decided she wants to do X Factor having agreed everything.

"I mean, she's crazy. But the American producers take the view, that's fine, we'll get somebody else. Because she's actually not really well known in America, she's much better known here.

"I'm furious because I really believe she's the most fantastically talented girl and I went out on a limb to get her for the London Palladium here. Never mind. There will be another girl on Broadway and Nicole will not get her Tony Award."

Nicole previously played Grizabella in the West End run of Cats at the London Palladium.

Rumours of Nicole returning emerged this week when a source told Daily Mail: "Nicole Scherzinger was a huge success whens she was on the X Factor a few years ago and has long been part of the X Factor family. She provided fun and entertainment and [was] a huge personality to the show. She is the definite favourite to get the seat next to Simon."

Nicole made her debut as an X Factor judge in 2012 when she served as guest judge - famously helping to form One Direction! - before landing a full judging role two years later and winning with her act James Arthur.

She also worked on the US X Factor.

News of Nicole's apparent confirm came after sources claimed Louis Walsh has signed a deal worth nearly £1 million to return, on the condition auditions are held in his native Ireland.

As always, bosses at X Factor are not commenting on judging rumours at this time, so we will just have to wait and see what happens!
